About watertreatment.africa
We are the dissolved air flotation desk for Africa: we publish the design data openly, we size plants against real effluent and real discharge limits, and we supply the equipment CIF to any African port. watertreatment.africa is part of AI-Spares, Hong Kong.
What we do
- Process sizing. Flow, solids and FOG loading, air-to-solids ratio, recycle and saturator duty, flotation area, and the chemical regime — calculated against your effluent at your design temperature, not against a European default.
- Compliance framing. We size to the limit your regulator will actually enforce, and we tell you plainly when flotation alone cannot reach it.
- Supply. Packaged units from 2 to 150 m³/h and high-rate cells from 200 to 1,200 m³/h, with saturator, dosing and control skid, delivered CIF to any African port.
- Commissioning support and operator guidance on jar testing, dose control and troubleshooting.
What we deliberately do not do
We are not a manufacturer. We are an independent specification and supply desk working through vetted manufacturing partners. That is stated plainly because you will find it out anyway, and a supplier who is vague about it at the enquiry stage is a supplier who will be vague later.
We do not sell flotation where flotation is the wrong answer. If your solids settle readily and you have the land, a clarifier costs less to buy and less to run. If your COD is largely soluble, a DAF will not meet a COD consent on its own and we will say so in the proposal rather than after commissioning.
We do not quote a price before we understand the stream. A number produced without knowing your TSS, FOG, temperature and discharge target is a number that will change.
How a project runs
- Enquiry. You send flow, industry, and whatever effluent data exists. If none exists, we tell you what to sample and how to composite it.
- Sizing. We calculate air demand, recycle duty and flotation area at your design temperature, and propose a chemical regime.
- Proposal. Capacity, footprint, materials of construction, scope of supply, lead time and CIF price to your nominated port.
- Jar test. Coagulant and polymer type and dose confirmed against a real sample before anything is built.
- Manufacture and delivery. Prefabricated, shipped CIF.
- Commissioning. Start-up support and operator handover.
Why the technical content is free
Because a badly specified flotation plant is worse for this industry than a lost sale is for us. Most of what goes wrong with DAF in Africa is decided before anyone signs anything — a unit sized on the wrong temperature, a COD promise that physics will not honour, a carbon steel tank quoted for a chloride-bearing tannery stream, no balance tank ahead of a brewery.
Every design figure on this site carries a unit and a source, and where the literature disagrees we say so and explain which convention applies. If that means you specify your plant correctly and buy it from somebody else, that is an acceptable outcome. It is still a better outcome than the alternative.
